Sherwood Glen Neighborhood Association

Sherwood Glen Neighborhood Association is comprised of the Meridian Gardens, Sharp-Nett and Sherwood Glen additions. We are bordered on the north and west by I-235 & K96 Highways and on the south and east by the Sedgwick County Floodway.

The association was formed in 1997 and in our short history has accomplished much. We were successful in helping many people in 1997 fight unfair property tax assessments. A neighborhood survey revealed the need for a new playground and after one year of fundraising and with matching city funds, a new playground including sports court, ball diamond and soccer goal are now in place. The playground also has an abundance of equipment for small children as well as a 10 station adult fitness portion and includes picnic tables, trees, benches and a barbecue stand.

The same survey showed overwhelming support for a sidewalk along 37th Street and again SGNA started fundraising and began talks with city officials to see what could be done. Our new sidewalk, including a beautiful pedestrian bridge was completed by Christmas of 2002. Neighborhood Watch, SGNA Neighborhood Garage Sale, Project Clean Street, Yearly free Neighborhood Trash Pick Up, The 37 Meridian Newsletter and 9 SGNA general meetings per year are just some of our functions.

Amenities: The Pond at Sherwood Glen is stocked with fish and offers a picnic table, bench and lots of shade trees. The Law Enforcement Training Center located at 37th and Womer is a great neighbor and provides our monthly meeting place. We enjoy a very low crime rate and work closely with our Community Policing Officer to promote Neighborhood Watch and National Night Out. Major shopping areas east and west are only 10 minutes away.
